Dance Injury Rehab
Joint Effort Movement Center is proud to be the only dance injury rehab provider in the Charleston area!
Led by dancer and physical therapist, Gina Aicardi, our program provides total care for your dancer from injury prevention to recovery.
Many dancers believe that it's normal to have pain when they dance. We're here to tell you that not only is it abnormal, but it is your body telling you something is wrong.
Our program encompasses all three areas of rehab: prevention, injury rehab, and recovery. We can even come to your studio!
Do we see just dancers? Our specialty includes similar sports such as gymnastics, cheerleading, and ice skating.

Our Services
Dance Specific Physical Therapy
We treat all types of dance-specific injuries. From back and hip pain, ankle sprains, or muscle strains, we are ready to help get your dancer back on the stage. We can also treat pre and post-operative issues.
Injury Prevention Workshops
We believe many chronic problems can be prevented through proper warm-ups and strength training regiments. We can come to your studio and coach your dancers and coaches on the latest research and training tips for preventing injury!
Recovery and Wellness
We have several wellness services to keep you going. Massage therapy, cupping, and dry needling are great tools to prevent and manage pain while your dancer is in the heat of the competition season. Mat Pilates is an excellent way to build core strength in the off season.
Pop-Up Clinics
We know that competition season is hectic, and your dancers are in the studio all the time. We can bring the clinic to you! We partner with studios to conduct pop-up clinics, so your dancers can get the care they need between practices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my health insurance cover dance rehab?
Dance physical therapy falls under regular physical therapy and is covered by insurance! We are in-network with Medicare, BCBS*, Tricare, and Aetna. If we are out-of-network, we do accept HSA and Care Credit. We can also provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
*If your BCBS is affiliated with Roper or MUSC, there are some plans that do not cover for services outside of the hospital system.
